Ed Lomena
I grew up in New York City, where an unfortunate encounter with an attorney during my youth profoundly shaped my career aspirations. A family friend referred me to a lawyer who initially seemed helpful, but eventually, their lack of commitment and poor communication resulted in a difficult and painful experience for me. This incident made me realize that I could do better, inspiring me to pursue a career in law with a commitment to serve my clients with integrity and dedication.
Initially, I considered a career in corporate law, but I soon discovered my true passion lay in trial law. My breakthrough came during a trial law competition in school, where judges impressed with my performance invited me to join their new personal injury firm upon graduation. Since then, I have dedicated my career to practicing personal injury law.
Over the course of more than eighteen years, I have gained extensive experience, including a significant period representing insurance companies in personal injury cases. During this time, I handled numerous high-stakes cases, ranging from seven to ten figures, and tried multiple defense cases. I have been licensed to practice law in New York State since 2006, and in 2013, I relocated to Colorado, where I also obtained my license.
Now, as a plaintiff’s attorney, I leverage my experience as a former defense attorney to better prepare and advocate for my clients. Understanding the tactics and mindset of insurance companies allows me to effectively counter their strategies and guide my clients through the complexities of their cases. Many of my clients come to me after being bullied and broken by insurance companies, seeking someone to level the playing field. My goal is to empower them, ensuring they feel supported and have a strong advocate by their side.
Outside of my professional life, I cherish spending time with my wife and daughter. I am also passionate about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in which I train and compete, holding the rank of black belt.
Jiu jitsu and trial work are two things in my life I excel at. They are apart of my identity. They have allowed me to live an extraordinary life. I want to express that to the world through Lomena Law and show my gratitude.
